Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains how the York Plumber 247 website uses personal data. It covers the request form, the email address on the contact page and the site's analytics. The site passes drainage requests to engineers. The engineer who takes your job is a third party, so that engineer may have a privacy notice of their own.

2. What the request form collects

The request form collects personal data. The form must pass a job on, so it collects these details when you send it:

  • Your name and phone number
  • Your postcode and address
  • The service you need
  • Any notes you add about the problem
  • Your IP address and browser type, which the site stores with the request

If you use the postcode lookup button, your postcode goes to an address lookup service (getAddress.io). The service suggests addresses, so you can pick yours instead of typing it. Using the button is optional, since you can type the address yourself.

3. How the details are used

We use your details to deal with the request you sent. We also use them to keep the form safe from spam. The list below shows each use.

  • To process your request and keep a record of it
  • To pass your request to an engineer, so the engineer can respond to you
  • To reduce spam and misuse of the form
  • To meet legal duties

The legal basis for handling a request is that you asked for it to be passed on. Spam checks rest on a legitimate interest in keeping the form safe.

4. Who receives your details

We do not sell your personal data. Requests sent through the form are stored by the operator of this site and passed to an engineer to respond. The details also pass through the services that run this site, such as hosting and email delivery. If you accept analytics cookies, Google also receives usage data.

5. How long details are kept

We keep request details only as long as we need them to handle the request and keep records of enquiries. You can ask us to delete them sooner by emailing the address in section 9. We cannot delete data that an engineer already holds.

6. Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics 4 sets cookies on your device only after you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Reject, analytics stays off, and the site deletes any Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_* and _gid) it finds in your browser. The Cookie settings link in the footer reopens the choice at any time. The Cookie Policy lists each cookie.

7. Your rights

You have rights over your data under UK law. Some of them have limits, although you can still ask. The main rights are:

  • Ask for a copy of your personal data
  • Ask us to correct data that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Ask us to restrict or stop using your data
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)

8. Children

This website is for adults who need drainage work. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has sent a request, please email us, and we can then remove it.

9. Contact and changes

For privacy questions, use the online request form. For problems with drainage work, contact the engineer directly, since the engineer holds the job records. We may update this policy, and the date at the top shows the latest edit.
